Gyno Surgery
Gynecomastia can be hereditary and studies show that thirty to sixty percent of young boys suffer from this condition. This condition is characterized by the enlargement of the breasts that imitate female breasts. This condition has different levels of severity so that those with hereditary gynecomastia can actually live normal lives because the physical attributes that come with the condition are not very obvious. There are also those who simply use compression garments in order to camouflage or hide chest deformity. But in severe cases where the physical condition highly affects the normalcy of life, intervention is usually done. Surgery for gynecomastia or gyno surgery is usually done in severe cases. But, there are also those who do not see any problem with their condition and simply live with the condition as it is and do not really undergo surgery no matter how severe their gynecomastia is.
Alternatives of Gyno Surgery
There are instances that men with gynecomastia opt for liposuction especially when it is perceptually considered to be a mere effect of obesity. However, it is proven that gynecomastia can recur if treated only with liposuction. The proper treatment should be by excision of the excess breast tissue in order to fully get rid of the tissue that cause enlargement to the breast.
There are also other kinds of gyno surgeries such as skin sculpture and reduction mammoplasty. In reduction mammoplasty, excess tissues are simply removed through a tiny incision in each breast. Depending upon the incision made, it should leave minimal scarring but in some cases, it leaves lifetime scars on the breasts. With this kind of surgery, a person with gynecomastia will have smaller and firmer breasts. Treatments, however are not only limited to gyno surgery. There are also suggested medications that men with gynecomastia can take in order to get rid of excess tissue within the mammary glands. Also certain medications are not generally accepted for gynecomastia, they induce hormonal balance to the body when taken and can aid in reversal of tissue enlargement in mild cases. These medications, however, are not guaranteed to solve the problem of gynecomastia. They can help but they cannot totally get rid of the condition. They can only aid the body in hormonal balance.
The choice for surgery, of course, is an individual choice for those with gynecomastia. The reasons are varied. There are those who undergo surgery to boost their confidence and increase their social interaction. There are also those who suffer psychological anxieties brought about by the social attitude towards the condition. In any case and with whatever reasons, those with gynecomastia must be afforded with the proper treatment. In the case, however, that diagnosis and medical treatments is individual-specific, the medical field still has a long way to go and for now, the only most decisive treatment that those with gynecomastia can avail of is gyno surgery. Until there are more aggressive options, those affected by the condition have to choose to go under the knife or take in medications which have really slow and unconfirmed effectiveness.
